Veteran rocker Elvis Costello has dismissed the talents of Madonna insisting she makes a convincing performer but has a limited range as a musician.

The outspoken star, 50, admits the pop queen can dance well enough, but she is less in control when she starts singing.

He says, "Madonna's a dancer, not a singer. She's a very good song and dance woman, but it's about the whole package and what you can persuade people to believe."
