Kanye West has hit out at television bosses for choosing Britney Spears to open Sunday's MTV Video Music Awards ceremony in Las Vegas.

West is upset he was not asked to perform his song 'Stronger' - currently at number two in the US singles chart, although the hip-hop star believes the track is currently the country's top seller - instead of Spears playing her new track 'Gimme More'.

"Honestly, I really don't care," he said. "I don't give a f**k about Britney performing."

"I should have opened the MTV awards because 'Stronger' is the number one song in the country. It just shows you that you have to do s**t to get ratings, and maybe they feel like they will get more ratings with Britney."
