'EastEnders' inspires raunchy internet spin-off
23/10/2009 - 15:40:12

‘EastEnders’ is to create a raunchy internet spin-off show.

The 13-part series will be written by a group of young people aged between 17 and 23 and feature cameo appearances by characters from the main BBC show such as Dot Cotton, (June Brown) Ian Beale, (Adam Woodyatt) and Stacey Slater (Lacey Turner).

The drama, to be called ‘EastEnders: 20’ is billed as a raunchier version of the main show and is aimed at younger viewers. It will be available on the internet only.

The show will focus on four Sixth Form students trying to escape their personal problems.

‘EastEnders’ executive producer Diederick Santer said: "These talented writers are creating a whole new Walford.

“There are always other people milling round the market and houses that we never go into. It will be nice to see well-known characters through strangers' eyes.”

The online show is being launched to celebrate 25 years of the soap on February 19 next year.
