Cadbury’s defends delay in action after salmonella scare
24/06/2006 - 14:52:32

Cadbury's is defending its decision not to take immediate action over a salmonella scare.

It's been forced to take a million chocolate bars off shop shelves by the British Food Standards Agency.

A leaking factory pipe discovered in January is to blame.

The company's UK director Simon Baldry insists there's no need to panic.

“We, like the Food Standards Agency, have a common goal and that is to protect public health,” Mr. Baldry said today.

He added: “Our products are perfectly safe and we are confident we can say that because of the rigorous testing based on solid science that we've done.”
