President of the EU Commission, Romano Prodi, is to hand over a "questionnaire" to Croatia, to assess its readiness to join the European Union.

The document contains more than 2,500 questions on the political, economic, and administrative situation in the country.

The answers will form basis of the commission's opinion as to start accession negotiations, it said.
