Burma protest radio considers Irish base
05/08/2004 - 08:23:10

An independent Burmese radio station is considering relocating its broadcasting base to Ireland.

The Democratic Voice of Burma, which broadcasts to people inside Burma and to Burmese exiles throughout the world, has been based in Norway since its establishment in 1992.

The director of the station is in Dublin this week to discuss the possibility of relocating the base to Ireland.

Burma is being ruled by a military junta and the state's media is tightly controlled.
