Devolution talks to continue in London today
14/10/2009 - 08:05:46

Further talks on the devolution of policing and justice powers to Stormont are expected to take place in London later today.

First Minister Peter Robinson and Deputy First Minister Martin McGuinness met British Prime Minister Gordon Brown yesterday to discuss the financial package on offer to fund the transfer.

The discussions are due to continue this morning as all sides try to agree a deal that will get unionists to support the completion of devolution.

The British Government is reportedly offering an £800m package, including a new police training college and the transfer of four former military barracks to the Northern Executive.

Sinn Féin has already signed up to the deal, but the DUP is demanding further political concessions and is insisting that it will not be rushed into a decision.
