20/11/2009 - 18:11:29

Over 40 homes in Ennis have been evacuated this evening by the emergency services due to rising floodwaters.
Efforts to fill a breach in a river wall close to the Club Bridge, which flooded Lower Abbey Street and parts of Francis Street, are also continuing
Gardaí said the Gort and Limerick Roads into Ennis are now closed to traffic and drivers can only access the town via the Kilrush, Tulla or Quin Roads.
Flooding across the rest of the county has receeded in the last few hours.
There are a number of roads still closed off but some are now passable.
